Funerals & Memorials Frome, Somerset & Wiltshire

Funerals play a crucial role in the process whereby we come to terms with the death of a relative or friend. Relationships can be complicated and when someone dies, it is not always clear how we feel. A ‘good’ funeral can make a huge difference to how we adjust to this new landscape without the person with whom we had shared our life.

Some funerals are celebratory. Others are deeply painful and sad. Often they are a combination of both. The role of an Interfaith Minister is to help the funeral take shape and happen in the best interests of all concerned. Although ministers will have their own understanding of life and death, they will not seek to impose their beliefs on others.

In most cases, funeral directors take the main responsibility for organising the funeral arrangements. But an independent celebrant has a valuable contribution to make in planning a funeral service to ensure that it reflects the values of the person who has died and the wishes of the principal mourners.

Funeral costs paid to the funeral directors usually include the celebrant’s fee. My fee for a funeral is £175. This includes local travel expenses, for example, to and from the crematorium and to meet the family. I would expect to work with the bereaved as much as they wish to support them in creating a funeral or memorial that feels right to them. Usually this involves one or more home visits.
